14-year old Elin and her teenage friends are growing up
in small town Åmål. Nothing ever happens until
Elin goes to the wrong party. She meets 16-year old Agnes
and the two girls fall in love. This comical and heart-breaking
film tells a universal story of what it means to be growing
up, and the courage it takes to be different. The film
is written and directed by Lukas Moodysson (born 1969).
He published several collections of poems before he made
his feature film debut in 1988 with Show Me Love,
which became a major hit with audiences and critics alike.
The film has been followed by a number of films which
have become increasingly more challenging, Together
(2000), Lilya 4-ever (2002), A Hole in My Heart
(2004) and Container (2006).
