Sweden 1952. Elina is nine years old and lives with her mother and two younger siblings in a village in northern Sweden. She misses her dead father. When Elina comes back to school after a long illness she gets into a fight with the strict teacher when she defends another pupil. This epic drama about a teacher’s unjustified behaviour and the solidarity among children is based on a novel by Kerstin Johansson i Backe. Director Klaus Härö (born in Finland 1971) made his feature film debut with this film for which he received the Ingmar Bergman Award in 2003. Elina – Som om jag inte fanns. Sweden 2002.
